Money Tip: Ask Yourself: "Do I Really Need This?"

With the price of just about everything going through the roof, people are turning everywhere they can to try and save a little money. Here's a great money saving tip that a lot of people just seem to overlook or just flat out ignore. Ask yourself before you buy, "Do I really need that?" If you are honest with yourself the answer may just surprise you.

We aren't talking about necessities here. Everyone needs certain things regardless of cost. Food, clean clothes to wear, a warm place to sleep, these are all examples of necessities. Medicines and other related items like personal care products should also be considered necessary unless you like smelling like old cheese. Things like transportation to and from a job could be considered necessary.

What seems to be the most important question for you to decide is what you would consider necessity and what could be considered extravagance. I could write all day long about the things you think you need but really don't like that extra car, along with it's extra car payment, or that 2nd home computer when there's nothing really wrong with your first one.

And do you really need a seventy two inch plasma screen TV? Let's face it people, most of you are out there trying to keep up with then do better than the Jones's. So since I really have nothing better to do at the moment, I am going to let you in on a little known secret. It doesn't matter what you have, it matters who you are, and here's why, cause one day your heart will fail you, and your mind will stop clicking over for you, and that's when you realize you can't take any of it with you. If you want to achieve financial freedom, according to RandiandJen.com, you have to stop trying to appear different from what you really are...

Some people also seem to labor under the misconception that is a great thing to have a lot of one thing. I wonder who really needs seventy three pairs of shoes? Most of us get by with one or two, maybe three if you want to count boots as shoes. People argue that they need variety in their lives, I submit that it's the person that makes the variety, not the clothes they wear. Sure it's nice to look nice, but some people go way overboard when it comes to clothes.

Instead of trying to keep up with the rest of the world, be original and set your own pace for once. There are really only a few things you really need if you sit down and think about it. Make sure you have a comfortable home to live in, clean and comfortable clothes on your back, food in your stomach, and an extra plate for that good dog you should get if you really want about to learn about what's important in life. The dog has it all figured out. Eat sleep and love til your heart stops. Everything after that is just window dressing. Remember it's not what you have that makes you who you are, it's who you are that brings meaning to what you have.

As always remember that no matter what you do or what you manage to acquire there's going to come that day that none of it will matters. So stop concentrating on all those extras and you might just get a pleasant surprise in your very next bank statement. As always stay smart shop quickly and take care of each other. And the next time you go to the store ask yourself if you really need to be going at all.
